Request to Move
Please read the following:
If you plan to move from your current assisted unit through the Baltimore Housing Mobility Program, you must submit a Request to Move application at least 150–180 days before your planned move date.
You must receive approval from BRHP before:
-Giving notice to your landlord
-Moving out of your current unit
Moving without approval may result in loss of assistance.
What You Need to Submit
The Head of Household (HOH) must complete and sign the Request to Move application.
Required Documents
Please upload the following with your application:
- A copy of your current full lease including all pages.
- Current utility bills showing no past-due balance.
- If applicable, a copy of your Notice to Vacate or Non-Renewal.
Incomplete applications may delay processing.
Required Steps Before You Move
1. Complete Online Mover’s Workshop Courses
In this course you will:
- Learn about the moving process with BRHP.
- Prepare for the landlord walk-through.
- Plan and budget for your security deposit and moving costs.
2. Attend a Move Readiness Meeting
You must attend a voucher briefing to receive your new voucher.
This typically takes place 6–8 weeks before your lease end or move date.
The Movers Workshop will be assigned 30 days after your initial submission, provided the request has not been withdrawn.
After completing all required workshops, you will receive an invitation to your Move Readiness Meeting within 10 business days.
General Eligibility Information
BRHP may deny a move request if:
- You are not current on your tenant portion of rent and utilities including BGE.
- You do not allow reasonable access for inspections or repairs.
- You are responsible for Housing Quality Standards violations.
- You commit serious or repeated lease violations, including drug-related or violent crime.
- You owe money to the Program.
Important Reminders
- Do not give notice to your landlord until BRHP approves your move.
- You must follow the notice requirements in your lease.
- You may not move without receiving a new Housing Choice Voucher.
- Remain current on tenant portion of rent and utilities.
- Failure to follow Program requirements may result in denial or termination of assistance.
