HABC Leasing Services from BRHP
HABC has contracted with the Baltimore Regional Housing Partnership (BRHP) to provide leasing services to a number of new admission voucher holders for HABC. Please review the below information to understand the process.
Understanding the Voucher and Leasing Process with BRHP
BRHP will handle the voucher issuance process for new admission households referred from HABC. A letter to each of those households will be sent from both HABC and BRHP informing them of their next steps with BRHP.
What to Expect After You Have Your Voucher
The search for a new home can be frustrating and take time. Your voucher has a search term of 90 days, so it is important to begin your search for a new home right away. BRHP can assist you to find a home that is affordable and ready to lease, and will provide you with referrals to three properties when you are issued your voucher. If you need additional referrals, please email HABC_Search@brhp.org. Once you have found a home that you would like to lease, a Request for Tenancy Approval needs to be submitted by your landlord to begin the lease up process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are BRHP services available to all HABC voucher households?
At this moment, BRHP is only providing services to a limited number of pre-selected households. Only households who have received confirmation from HABC that BRHP will be providing these services are eligible.
Will BRHP continue to administer my voucher after I lease a new home?
BRHP will be working with both the household and the landlord through the lease up process and ending with the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contract. Once the HAP contract is executed, the households file is returned back to HABC who will process payment to the landlord. At that point, BRHP is no longer involved in the process nor is the point of contact for either the household or landlord.
Am I eligible for Security Deposit assistance with BRHP?
HABC households who are eligible for security deposit assistance will have a security deposit application included in their voucher briefing packet. This form should be completed and submitted with the Request for Tenancy Approval (RTA) form to the landlord for submission to BRHP.
