Marvin joined the BRHP Housing Mobility program in 2014, as a young man about to have his first child. Now, he is a homeowner building a future with his children.

Marvin joined the Baltimore Regional Housing Partnership’s (BRHP) Housing Mobility program in 2014, as a young man about to have his first child. He knew he wanted to provide for his children, and after overhearing a coworker talking about buying a house during his first day of work, he knew he wanted to be a homeowner too. After applying, he was pleasantly surprised by the clarity of the initial expectations of the program, and the extensive resources available to clients. “That was the most surprising part to me,” he said, was how “they [BRHP] give you any resources you need and help you get where you need to go.”

Marvin credits BRHP’s assistance during his time in the Housing Mobility Program for helping him learn to manage his money better, become more responsible, and stay on top of his financial responsibilities and bills. He is also thankful for the various housing options and relocation opportunities BRHP revealed that enabled him to secure new and better opportunities for himself and his children.

When asked which part of the program he valued the most, Marvin was quick to mention the stellar communication between himself and the rental assistance counselors. “The communication was awesome,” he noted: “anything you need, big or small, I was always able to talk to the person I needed.”

After ten successful years in the program, Marvin was able to achieve his housing goals and purchase a home in a resource-rich  area, guaranteeing ample opportunities for himself and his children and building a powerful step towards his family’s future. He encourages potential BRHP program members to “take it serious and see what you can get out of it.”

“They give you any resources you need and help you get where you need to go.”
